Retrieved December 26, Retrieved June 15, Friday's visit was the second boat expedition of the week by a team of police and officials from the forest department, tribal welfare department and coast guard, Pathak said.

The officials took two of the seven people arrested for helping Chau get close to the island in an effort to determine his route and the circumstances of his death.

The fishermen who had taken Chau to the shore saw the tribespeople dragging and burying his body on the morning of Nov.

Pathak said investigators have asked experts to give them "the nuances of the group's conduct and behavior, particularly in this kind of violent behavior," before they attempt to recover the body.

Officials typically don't travel to the North Sentinel area, where people live as their ancestors did thousands of years ago.

The only contacts, occasional "gift giving" visits in which bananas and coconuts were passed by small teams of officials and scholars who remained in the surf, were years ago.

Indian ships monitor the waters around the island, trying to ensure that outsiders do not go near the Sentinelese, who have repeatedly made clear they want to be left alone.

Chau went to "share the love of Jesus," said Mary Ho, international executive leader of All Nations. All Nations, a Kansas City, Missouri-based organization, helped train Chau, discussed the risks with him and sent him on the mission, to support him in his "life's calling," she added.

When a young boy tried to hit him with an arrow on his first day on the island, Chau swam back to the fishing boat he had arranged to wait for him offshore.

Christianity has been a missionary movement since its beginning. Since I am at Wheaton College, and many connections have been made to alumnus Jim Elliot, I also contrasted the two missionaries.

I did so not to say that Chau was Elliot or that both were perfect. I referenced both to contrast the response to them and their work.

I imagine that Elliot would received very different treatment today, and I think that is worth stating at the beginning of this series.

At the end of the day, I am among those that believe the world needs Jesus. I believe we are called to get the gospel to the ends of the earth and to every tribe.

We can point out our disagreement with Chau, and I will address those, but many Christians need to really decide if they can say,.

I actually believe what is offensive to many today— I really believe that the world needs Jesus. And, I am OK that you think me a fool for believing that.

As a Wheaton College graduate, he has a special place here. To some that makes us the fools. But we pray our students will engage in their culture and others well and in appropriate ways, with care for the health and well-being of all, and with others in partnership.

If you need to, caveat it with everything you think Chau did wrong some of which turned out to be incomplete after many Christians vented their anger.

Tomorrow, Rob Gallagher and I will host a Facebook Live to discuss this situation and cross-cultural missions in general. You can sign up for that here.
